Allevyn Adhesive dressings can be used on partial to full thickness wounds, including ulcers, pressure sores, donor sites, surgical incisions, and first and second degree burns.
Allevyn Adhesive is highly absorbent, as its hydrocellular core absorbs and holds liquid in its microscopic structure. The perforated wound contact layer allows even viscous exudate to pass into the dressing. The breathable outer layer allows excess moisture to evaporate away from the dressing. This allows for the creation and maintenance of a moist wound environment, which in turn facilitates healing and reduction of dressing changes.
Allevyn Adhesive dressings are soft and cushioning, giving excellent patient comfort and protection. Patients can also take comfort in the non-irritating, low-allergy adhesive. The wound contact layer sticks well to the skin, but not onto the wound itself. This Allevyn dressing also has a profiled-cross section with micro-thin edges to ensure that the dressing stays in place and to prevent accidental removal by friction.
In-vitro studies and clinical experience demonstrate that Allevyn Adhesive dressings can stay in place for up to 7 days. During the early stages of treatment, be sure to inspect the dressing frequently. Change the dressing if the exudate can be seen through the outer waterproof film or approaches 3/4" from the edge of the dressing.
