Molnlycke's Mepilex Border Sacrum is uniquely shaped for chronic and acute wounds of the sacral area. This Mepilex dressing is ideal for bedridden patients who have developed pressure sores or bed sores on their bottom, and for patients with surgical excision of pilonidal cysts.

Mepilex Border Dressing - Sacrum effectively absorbs and retain exudate, while maintaining a moist wound environment for healing. This foam dressing also helps prevent pressure ulcers as its elasticity dissipates shear forces and allows for repositioning of the dressing after skin assessment.

Mepilex wound dressing features a Safetac layer that seals the wound edges, preventing exudate from leaking, thus minimizing the risk for maceration. The Safetac dressing doesn't stick onto the wound bed itself, and won't pull on skin upon removal. Compared to other adhesive bandages, this ensures less pain for the patient during dressing changes.

Each Mepilex dressing is moisture proof and has a bacteria proof film backing. The foam dressing is conformable and can be worn for several days before needing to be changed.

Instructions for use

  • Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.

  • Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.

  • Remove the release films.

  • Apply the adherent side to the wound. Do not stretch.

  • On dressing removal gently lift one corner and slowly peel back the dressing.

  • If extra fixation is needed, fixate only on the borders of the product.

Frequency of change:

Mepilex Border may be left in place for several days depending on the condition of the wound and the surrounding skin, or as indicated by accepted clinical practice. Mepilex Border should be changed when exudate is present at the pad edges. A change in dressing regimen can result in an initial increased level of exudates, which temporarily may require an increased change frequency.

In case of signs of clinical infection, consult a health care professional for adequate infection treatment. Do not use Mepilex Border together with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide. Mepilex Border should be stored in dry conditions below 95°F(35°C). Sterility is guaranteed unless inner package is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not re-sterilize.
